We're Dunclyde...

We are a creative agency based in sunny Los Angeles, California and rainy Aberdeen, Scotland. We want to help make the world a more beautiful place, through design.

We specialise in brand and website design, but we make use of our other skills to really make our projects stand out from the crowd.

Knit It

 Project Overview

Knit it is a new business, that has the aim of making knitting patterns easier to understand and more accessible, for customers across a range of ages, with a particular focus on young people.

The proposed platform allows customers to browse and purchase knitting patterns which they can then view on Knit It’s unique digital pattern software. Purchased patterns are assigned to the customer’s account. The customer’s account will act as a library, containing all purchased patterns. When accessed, a purchased pattern will open in the digital pattern software, which guides the customer through knitting process step by step and tracks customer progress.

As part of the platform, there will also be the option to purchase KnitPic kits for delivery.

The current creative requirement for the project is the strategy, planning, UX & UI design and development of the MVP.

The final deliverable for this work, completed by Dunclyde, will be the front end design and platform interface design of all elements for the MVP (shop, account & digital pattern elements). With the option of Dunclyde also developing the shop and account functionality, and working with a chosen developer to integrate the design into the digital pattern software. In both options, Dunclyde proposes to provide the complete design for all elements of the platform.

The solution includes user journey strategy; user interface design and front end design of all elements. The deliverable will be a fully designed platform, built in Webflow to a very high standard of finish. Webflow ensures code is clean. The design will include animations and interactions throughout the design. The design and experience will be consistent across all elements, to provide a coherent and seamless experience for customers as they move from the website to the digital pattern software.

The solution will be exported for implementation by a developer into the back end functionality. Dunclyde will work with chosen developers to help implement the designed platform with the back end functionality.

Target Audience

The target audience has been generally established as: knitting enthusiasts, beginners and those interested in craft and crafting. Within this audience we will identify the best route to communicating effectively with  each group subset, to provide the best experience for each individual user. Additional identification and refinement of the target audience will take place on commencement of the project.

Users & User Experience

The site should be very easy to use and navigate. The site should be easily navigated by users of all technical abilities and follow a standard layout format in key navigational areas. The site will be designed mobile first and will be fully responsive across all platforms to allow easy access on any device. All sections should function fully without compromise on mobile and tablet devices to provide a seamless experience across a multitude of devices.
