Dunclyde 2022 in review

5 min read

From the outside it might look like we’ve not been up to much this year. But we’ve actually had a super busy year, which resulted in our website and social channels becoming a liiiittle uncultivated. So, we’ve refreshed our site, added some new work and have updates!

Here are a few of the projects we’ve worked on this past year, and some of the things we’ve been up to.

Moved to L.A.!

Moving boxes and van

In 2021 we opened up our Los Angeles base, and this year we moved HQ operations stateside. Meaning Eilidh and Daniel (and their pets) made the move to sunny California.

Aeropay: brand refresh & website

We helped Aeropay define their visual identity and built a new website from the ground up, packed with animation, character, and smarts for growth.

General Magic the Movie: website

General Magic the Movie is the crazy true story of how an Apple spinoff company secretly developed the first smartphone 10 whole years before the iPhone was a thing. If you’ve not seen it, check out their website for where to stream it.

We worked with the talented team who created the documentary to build them a new website that supports fans, viewers and engages team leaders from tech giants like Google & Apple (ironically) looking to host workshops based on the lessons the film teaches.

Private Club: concept development

We worked with the most exclusive private club in all of Los Angeles. We were tasked with developing new concepts and styling to help tell their story to a new generation of clientele. But that’s all we can really say about that.

AVIR: website, 3D

AVIR, based in Southern California, is an ultra high-end smart home company that settles for nothing but the best. So when the team came to us looking for a stand out website that lived up to their standards, we were excited to get to work!

We rendered stylized interiors to visualize their services, and created a website that reflects their impeccable quality of workmanship.

Brand Design Masters podcast

We watch a lot of Philip VanDusen's Brand Design Masters on YouTube, and have done for a few years now, so we were super excited when we were invited be interviewed for the podcast.

Abode: website, icons, visual style

Abode by Urby brings community and great design to apartment living, without the strings of renting. We designed and built Abode’s new website to help people find their next hassle free home away from home.

Dunclyde proposal system beta success!

If you’ve worked on a new project with us, you’ve likely tested our beta proposal system. It’s basically a smart proposal system built by us that handles everything from scope parameters to  timeline, pricing and even signing and onboarding.

The system makes it really easy for us and our clients to agree on project details before getting started. We’ve run the tests, optimized the process and we’re excited to say that the beta was a success!

Journey Map podcast

In November, we were super excited and humbled to speak with Dave Hale of Craft & Crew on the Journey Map podcast. We had a blast talking about our path from founding, moving country and future goals.

Hsu McCullough: website

Super talented L.A. architects Hsu McCullough tasked us with building them a website with functionality and ultra-minimalism at its’ core. We accepted the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed fussing over the finest of details with them.

Brand New Conference

Yes, Brand New Conference was back this year after the COVID break! The event was as incredible as ever, held in Austin, Texas this time. We met (and heard from) lots of lovely creative people there, and are looking forward to the next one.

Equity Multiple: web design

We helped Equity Multiple design a new website that instills trust and helps potential investors understand how they can access high-level real estate investing without being a multi-millionaire.

Design for Good: concept in the making

We are working on a new initiative to give back to our local communities. Design for Good will fully launch in 2023 it aims to help businesses and ‘for-good’ projects elevate their presence through affordable and donated design time.

DF Comms: ongoing work

Our friends at DF Comms continue to expand and adapt and we continue to work with the team to build on and improve their website.

Cyclehighlands: ongoing work

Team Cyclehighlands also continue to thrive and we love helping their customers find them online by keeping their website in tip top shape.

Riso printing workshop

Eilidh and Daniel were sad to leave behind the excellent print studio Peacock Visual Arts in Aberdeen, so as a team we checked out Nova Community Arts in Glendale for our Riso fix recently. They also have an amazing letterpress setup and we can't wait to get back for some more hands-on creativity.
